'The Ring' Returns In 3-D, 'The Transporter' Comes To Television In Today's Dailies -- 4/27/10

The Ring-- Thankfully, you have more than seven days to prepare yourself for "Ring 3D," the third installment in the horror franchise centering on a killer video creature. The 3-D film comes from "Dream House" writer David Loucka and is being billed as "more teen-centric" than the two Naomi Watts-starring outings. [Heat Vision]

-- Jason Statham isn't coming to the small screen, but "The Transporter" is. Luc Besson's EuropaCorp is teaming up with Atlantique Prods. for twelve one-hour episodes of a "Transporter" television series. Production is expected to begin in early 2011. [Variety]

-- "The A-Team" director Joe Carnahan isn't closed off to a Mr. T cameo, though he suggested that such a role might be better left for a sequel. "He'd be a great villain, totally unexpected," Carnahan teased. "Wouldn't that be perfect?" [Empire]

-- James Patterson's "Maximum Ride" novels could be heading to Universal after unsuccessful development through Columbia Pictures. "Twilight" director Catherine Hardwicke is attached to direct while "Iron Man" screenwriters Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby are tackling a new script. [Heat Vision]

-- Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling's upcoming untitled romantic comedy has recruited "The Wrestler" actress Marisa Tomei and musician Josh Groban. Tomei plays a prospective love interest for Carell while Groban's character is dating a woman played by the previously cast Emma Stone. [Variety]

-- Brad Fuller says that the upcoming "Ouija" movie from Platinum Dunes isn't a horror movie, instead describing it as "more of a big action-adventure movie along the lines of... I gotta be careful what I compare it to." He didn't almost say "Jumanji," did he? [Bloody Disgusting]

-- "Juno" actress Olivia Thirlby is in talks to join Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman for director Ivan Reitman's upcoming comedy, previously known as "Friends With Benefits." She would play Portman's sister. [The Wrap]
